Over the past 30 years, the Cayman Orthopaedic Group has spearheaded the practice and innovation of Orthopaedic surgery in the Cayman Islands. This includes a series of firsts within the Caymans:

  • Hip arthroscopy on island
  • Cartilage reconstruction in hip arthroscopically
  • Cartilage reconstruction in knee arthroscopically
  • Labral reconstruction in the hip
  • Glenoid reconstruction for shoulder instability arthroscopically
  • Rotator cuff reconstruction for irreparable rotator cuff tears
  • PCL reconstruction on the island
  • Revision with Allograft
  • All inside ACL reconstruction
  • Abductor reconstruction in hip arthroscopically
  • Superior capsular reconstruction for irreparable cuff tears
  • Bone grafting of hip arthroscopically
  • Bone grafting of ankle arthroscopically (TRAN)

The success rate of our treatments is significantly higher than currently published results. For example, irreparable rotator cuff repairs commonly see a nearly 100% rate of failure to heal, as compared to a successful healing rate of 80% at the Cayman Orthopaedic Group.

We teach these novel techniques to other surgeons from around the world, we publish our techniques and outcomes in international journals, and we present our research at medical conferences worldwide.
